You probably saw one or both of the following messages when trying to export a movie from iMovie:
com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain Error -1
imovie compressor kit error
After 3 days of trying to get iMovie to export movies again and many users on the internet reporting this problem, I found the only working solution. There are many possibilities on the Internet, all of which I have tested and none of which has brought the desired result.
Since I keep a record of updates on my computer, I was able to go through all the possible causes one by one and compare them to a hard disk that had no system or application updates before a certain point in time and iMovie was working as usual.
To cut a long story short – I had backed up my iPhone to the affected system, which I never did on the other disk.
The update from iTunes changed the following file:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.Framework
All you have to do is copy version 1 to your computer.
End of story – everything should work as before.
If you don’t have a backup at hand, you can download the file here:

P.S.
The system I’m talking about here is macOs High Sierra 10.13.6.
