Apple provided engineers with high resolution encoding processing tools, to ensure that the music, when encoded to AAC (Advanced Audio Coding = Apple’s iTunes format), is transparently and
faithfully distributed in the way the producers and artists intended it to be heard.
The effect, no more digital overs, pays also for encoding the high resolution master files to the 16 bit / 44.1 kHz format used for CD’s.
